Birrisito (Paraiso, Cartago) - A lovely ten-acre (four-hectare) property with fantastic views to the Orosi Valley, Lake Cachi and the Irazú Volcano. The property has two separate hilltops, both of which would make a great homesite (or multiple homes per hilltop)...and still have lots of land for horses, cows, crops, etc. The property currently has lots of producing macadamia trees!
The property has great potential for a wide variety of uses, with some cleared areas, some forested areas, and some crop areas. A nice stream borders the property on one side. The access is excellent, being located just off the main road (between Cartago and Turrialba). At an elevation of about 4,600 feet (1,400 meters), it enjoys a cooler climate than San José (who would have thought you could move to the tropics and still enjoy sitting by the fireplace at night?).
The property is part of a larger property and, therefore, will need to be segregated. This will allow you to determine the exact boundaries you desire (within certain guidelines). The exact price will depend on the final size (about US$6.50 per square meter - or about US$26K per acre).
The general Orosi Valley is a fantastic area that is rapidly growing in touristic appeal and has numerous attractions, including the nearby Tapantí National Park (6,000+ acres of gorgeous virgin rainforest), world-class whitewater rafting and kayaking, two public thermal baths (there are numerous hot springs around the valley) and a five-star hot spring spa/resort, Lake Cachí and the Cachí Dam, several cultural landmarks (such as the oldest church still in operation as well as the ruins of the very first church), quaint traditional towns, and the scenic beauty of a valley that many guidebooks say is the prettiest in the country. Just a short drive away is the Lankester Botanical Gardens, the Irazú and Turrialba Volcanos, the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles in Cartago (home to the country's patron saint and the destination of a yearly pilgrimmage that attracts over a million people). It's a fantastic area!
