EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS ON EAST-SIDE SAN JOSE

Momentum Pinares; Curridabat

This new complex (which is a spin-off of the successful Momentum Lindora in Santa Ana) is now open, across from the Curridabat Walmart. It contains (or soon will contain) contain a shopping center, restaurants, theater, office center, medical tower, and hotel...along with parking for 540 vehicles. Hooters:

In the continuing trend of the East side of San José catching up to Escazú, a Hooters Restaurant/Bar recently opened in San Pedro (just a few blocks north of Mall San Pedro). Of course, there are some who welcome this new addition, and others who likely won't be patrons. But, regardless of how you feel about it, it is a sign of the exciting growth on the East side of San José.

Automercado:

A battle is brewing in Curridabat between the two supermarket giants, Walmart/Hipermas and Automercado. Automercado recently completed a large, new store just up the road (along the "old road" to Tres Rios) from the Curridabat Walmart/Hipermas. There is also a Subway, Librería Internacional and cafe at that location.

Sam's Club:

Walmart, which already exists in Curridabat (across from Momentum Pinares), is reportedly planning on building the country's first Sam's Club in Curridabat, close to the existing Walmart. Sam's Club, a membership-based bulk shopping outlet, is similar to the PriceSmart that currently exists in Curridabat/Zapote. The competition should be fierce!
